This image compares the 2D midesophageal view on the left with 3D en face views of the LAA on the right. The red arrows point to the endocardium that was suspected to be a thrombus. The lower right 3D image shows the “trimmed down” LAA showing 2 distinct lobes of the bilobar appendage.
The real-time 3D loop shows the LAA in an en face view. The 2 arrows labeled Lobe 1 and Lobe 2 point to the 2 separate lobes of the bilobar LAA. The proximity of the LAA to the left upper pulmonary vein (LUPV) and Coumadin ridge is also noted. On the left is a diagram of a bilobed LAA cut in the vertical plane.
